Greta Zazza: “I would never do this just for fun or exposure”

Even though she is still relatively new on the Lithuanian music scene, Greta Zazza’s last year’s entry in Eurovizijos – “Like I Love You” didn’t just become a hit in Lithuania, but also it became a big favorite amongst Eurovision fans. After losing to Fusedmarc, Greta is back again this year with something different to her last year’s hit, and she’s hoping to be the one to represent Lithuania in Eurovision 2018 with “Broken Shadows”.

Greta Zazza took part in last week’s heat of Eurovizijos, which she ended up winning. We had a great pleasure to meet this amazing artist, and speak to her about her new entry, about the change of style, and a lot of other things. She also wanted to send a video message to all of her fans, and for all Eurovision fans, and you can check this out here:

Hello Greta! First of all, thank you for taking your time out for chatting with us. First of all, I would like to ask you how was your experience in last year’s Lithuanian Eurovision selection?

I had a really good time to be honest. As for a newcoming artist it was amazing to get so much love and support not only from Lithuania but from other countries in Europe as well. I can say I loved it.

What made you come back again this year?

The song! It’s the right song. I would never do this just for fun or exposure or other reasons. I believe “Broken Shadows” has a big chance.

What can you tell us about “Broken Shadows” and the team who worked on it?

First of all it’s a beautiful strong power ballad about lost love. We all know how it feels don’t we? Well I do. And that’s why it is so important to me. And I believe everyone can relate to it. Everyone can find a peace of their own story in it. Also, it is written by amazing talented song writers, who wrote many successful Eurovision songs. Jonas Thander wrote “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” which ended up in the top 10, and Charlie Mason wrote “Rise Like A Phoenix” and we all know it was the winner. So I believe in this. I just know it has all it takes.

“Broken Shadows” is quite different to your last year’s entry. Why did you decide to change your style, and is there any other style you’d like to try yourself out in?

Through many years I have tried many different styles and genres. But my heart was always close to ballads. I found myself in this kind of music and I know this is where I’m strong, this is where my message has power. I hope people will hear that and they will agree that this is who Greta Zazza truly is.

“Like I Love You” has become a big favorite amongst Eurovision fans. Do you think that “Broken Shadows” will make an even bigger success?

I sure hope so. I love this song and I will be happy if Eurovision fans will fall for it too. It’s easy because as I mentioned before we can all relate to this. We can all be strong together and go through our heartbreaks easier knowing that we’re not alone.

Why should you be the one to win and represent Lithuania in Lisbon?

Because I believe this year I have what it takes. The song, the team, a strong will and most importantly – passion and love for what I do.

Did you have a chance to hear any of the other songs, and which is that one act that you think is your biggest competition to win?

To be honest, I haven’t yet. I try to concentrate on my own performance now.

Who or what inspires you normally?

Watching my favourite artists performing live, going to meet my vocal coach and just speaking to my family.

What do you normally do when you are not singing?

I still have a side job. That takes lots of my time. Also I love spending time with my friends and family. And I travel as much as I can.

Thank you very much for your time, and we wish you the very best of luck in Eurovizijos!

Thank you so much! I send my love to all who support me. I love you guys 🙂
