Julia Samoylova Will Represent Russia in Lisbon

Moments ago, it was confirmed that Julia Samoylova is going to represent Russia in Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon! Julia posted on her Instagram profile a photo of her in a meeting with Alexey Gobulev (who will be the performance director), and confirmed that she will indeed represent Russia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, and that Channel One will keep their promise they made once they withdrew Last year.

Channel One is working on a new song for Julia Samoylova. She stated that she is a little bit upset to change the song “Flame Is Burning”, but according to the rules, she cannot perform it this year. They co-wrote two songs – one about space and the other one about a fairytale.

She wants to keep the same staging they had planned for last year, which was very high tech. Her staging will be planned by Alexey Gobulev, who was the stage director of Polina Gagarina’s Eurovision performance as well.

Russia did not take part in last year’s Contest due to political tensions with the host country, Ukraine. They had Selected Julia with the song “Flame Is Burning”, but then had to withdraw from the Contest once Julia was forbidden entry to the country. Her song for Lisbon will be announced in the upcoming days.
