Petra: “My song is a clear image of where I stand in my life now”

Petra first took part in the Maltese Eurovision selection 10 years ago, when her entry “Street Car Of Desire” came in 6th place. After a long break she is back in the competition this year, and she is trying to win the Maltese Eurovision ticket with the song “Evolution”, and she will be the one to close the Maltese Final on the 3rd of February.

We had a pleasure to chat with Petra, get to know her better and find out more about her entry “Evolution”, and the team behind it. Check out everything she told us right here in this interview:

Hello Petra! First of all thank you for your time for doing this interview, and congratulations for making it to the Finals of MESC! How did you feel when you found out that you are one of the finalists?

I felt so happy! I have been absent from the music scene for 4 years and I was scared that it would be difficult to get back in, but thank god I’m in ๐Ÿ™‚

How did you decide to enter a song this year?

After my absence, I felt the need to write and express myself about the evolution of myself during this time. So I contacted Muxu and Elton and the rest is history ๐Ÿ™‚

Can you tell us more about the story of the song, what it’s about, and the team who worked on it?

So the meaning of the song is the evolution of a person when he/she goes through struggles and difficult moment in life. It portrays how through the struggles one finds him/herself and how he/she become stronger. It’s a clear image of where I stand in my life now, after 4 year absence of struggles, there is only strength inspiration now ๐Ÿ™‚ I worked with MUXU and Elton Zarb whom have understood me exactly, believed in me and helped me create what I had in mind. I love them so much ๐Ÿ™‚

How are you getting ready for the night of the final?

So many things ๐Ÿ™‚ with a very wonderful team of people we work on the image, the performance, the production and of course the voice training ๐Ÿ™‚

Petra 1What do you usually do when you are not singing?

I love spending time with my 2 kids whom I adore so much ๐Ÿ™‚

Why should you be the one to represent Malta in Lisbon?

I think all the artists’ work so hard for this and everyone deserves to represent Malta J I believe in my song and my team.. Let’s hope for the best ๐Ÿ™‚

The competition is on a very high level this year. But which is that one act that you think is your biggest competition to win?

To be honest I have not listened to the other songs… I just want to focus on my song and performance and give my best than may the best one win! ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you currently involved in any other projects?

I’m totally focused on the Eurovision now but I plan on working on new material later.. let’s see how this goes first ๐Ÿ™‚
