Drama in Melodifestivalen, as Kamfedrops’ entry has been released 8 years ago!

After Anna Book’s “Himmel for tva” caused drama in Melodifestivalen back in 2016, a similar thing is happening this year with one of the acts in the first semi final! Felicia Dunaf hasn’t recorded her song for Moldova’s Eurovision selection, however, it was discovered that Kamfedrops’ entry “Solen lever kvar hos dig” was released nine years ago by a singer named Jonny Fagerman, under the title “Solen lever kvar”.

Mr. Melodifestivalen himself, Christer Bjorkman, called “grey zones” in the rules, which may save Kamferdrops from disqualification. Jonny Fagerman’s release was a demo version of the song, and he had it up on his MySpace profile and his YouTube Channel. He comments that last year he was contacted by the composers of the song to let him know that he is no longer authorized to play or publish this song anymore, since it would be sent to this year’s competition. Even though the songs are now ‘offline’, they were released eight years ago.

Mr. Bjorkman stated that the song was a demo and the composers claim the publications were unauthorized, thus Kamfedrops might stay in the competition. There is no statement from SVT about this matter so far, but we will keep you posted on this news.
