Ed Sheeran: "I would love to write for the UK"

In an interview today Ed Sheeran has said that he’d be up for writing a Eurovision entry for the UK – but wouldn’t want to perform it himself.

“I would love to write a Eurovision song,” he said. “I don’t know that I’d ever enter it singing it. But I don’t think the rest of Europe wants England to win because of history and stuff.”

Sheeran’s latest album Divide was a major hit around the world and was the best-selling album of 2017 in countries such as France, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland.

Ed was speaking to BBC Radio Five Live just before the Brit Awards in London today (21st February)

The UK has struggled in the Eurovision in recent years, and the last time the country entered the Top 10 was in 2009 with “It’s my time”
