Melodifestivalen rejected the Danish winner, “Higher Ground”!

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix took place last Saturday, and the show was won by Rasmussen and the song “Higher Ground”. The composers of the song now revealed that they originally sent this song in for Melodifestivalen 2018, where it got rejected!

“Higher Ground” was submitted to this year’s Melodifestivalen, and in this version the song was sung by Dennis Bengtsson. Give a listen to Dennis’ version of the song here:

It’s not the first time that Melodifestivalen rejected a song that ended up winning Melodi Grand Prix – the same thing happened back in 2010, when “In A Moment Like This” won DMGP, and went on to finish in fourth place in Eurovision. The Swedish winner that year, Anna Bergendahl with the song “This Is My Life” failed to qualify for the Final. Will history repeat itself and will Rasmussen manage to ‘beat’ the act that will win Melodifestivalen this year?
