Supernova results overturned!

Following the shock result in Riga on Saturday night, where singer Ritvars qualified over one of the red hot favourites, Markus Riva to the Supernova final, there has been an announcement made by LTV, the host broadcaster.

It was found that there was what has been described as a “technical failure” in the online voting section and a decision was made to review those votes. Following this review, the organisers have decided to cancel the online voting for the second semi final, and following this it was found that Markus Riva placed second, behind Madara and will therefore be eligible to compete in the Supernova Final on February 24th.

The review found that the online votes for the group Riga Reggae had been added to Ritvars score, giving him the second place ahead of Markus Riva

Ritvars  has now been bumped to third place in Saturday’s results, but the organisers will allow him to take part in the final, which will now comprise of at least 7 songs.

This will be a huge relief for all Markus Riva fans, as his entry “This Time” had been seen as one of the strongest songs he has entered for some time

Ritvars, with his song “Who’s Counting” will also be appearing in the final on February 24th, watch his performance here

And let’s not forget the overall winner on Saturday night, Madara with her song “Esamība”, who managed to escape all the drama and take her place in the final

I’m delighted to say that Joe and Anne will be seeing all the acts on February 24th – but there is still a lot to come, with one further semi final to come on February 17th before we know the full line up!
