Ukraine have chosen! It’s Mélovin with “Under the Ladder”!

Moments ago, the Grand Final of Ukraine’s national selection show, Natsionalnyi Vidbir concluded – and we now have another confirmed act and song that will be heading to Lisbon in May – it’s Mélovin!

Only six songs made it to tonight from the previous two weeks of semi finals which consisted of 18 acts in total. Tonight’s lucky finalists were as follows:

  • Kadnay – “Beat of the Universe”
  • Tayanna – “Lelya”
  • The Erised – “Heroes”
  • Laud – “Waiting”
  • Vilna – “Forest Song”
  • Mélovin – “Under the Ladder”

The live show was overseen by an expert jury and three panelists: Jamala – who won the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with her song ‘1944’; comedian and singer – Anriy Danylko (A.K.A. Verka Serduchka – Eurovision 2007); and singer and producer – Yevhen Filatov (The Maneken).

The winning song was chosen by a combination of points from the expert jury and a public televote. Mélovin scored a combined total of 11 points out of a possible 12, and as such will be representing Ukraine in May.

In Lisbon, Ukraine will perform in the second-half of the second Semi-final, which takes place on May 10th. Do you think the winning song has what it takes to make it to the final and win the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest? Watch the performance and comment below!
