San Marino selects Jessika for Lisbon!

San Marino, through their selection show 1 in 360, have chosen Maltese singer Jessika to represent them with the song “Who We Are” in their ninth appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon. The track will be performed with an appearance from fellow 1 in 360 contestant Jenifer Brening.

The crowdfunding vote was opened from the second pre-recorded show held on the 16th and saw Camilla North, Giovanni Montalbano, Jessika, Jenifer Brening and Sara de Blue reach their target.

Featuring an interval performance from Zoe Straub (Austria 2016) singing “Loin d’ici”and Twiins (Slovakia 2011) singing “Hey Boy”, the final top 5 results were revealed as follows.

  • Camilla North and Franklin Calleja in joint 5th place
  • Giovanni Montalbano achieving 4th Place
  • Jenifer Brening in 3rd Place
  • Sara de Blue 2nd Place
  • With Jessika announced as the San Marino representative in Lisbon for Eurovision this year.

Jessika faced some challenges in the lead up to tonight’s performance, with her original partner IROL dropping out of the duet, describing the song as too ‘pop’ for his style. You can read more about that drama here.

Since the previous show on the 16th, Austrian singer Sara de Blue was hotly tipped as the favorite to win 1in360 and was the first artist to reach the crowdfunding target. Do you agree with the result? Let us know in the comments below.
