Markus Riva is a veteran in taking part in Latvia’s Eurovision selections, as he tried to represent his country in Eurovision no less than five times, with his last try being this year with “This Time”. The closest he came to representing Latvia was in 2015, when he finished in second place in Supernova with “Take Me Down”.
After coming fifth in this year’s Supernova in Latvia, Markus focused on his new album, which will contain songs in Latvian only. This will be his fifth album overall, but the first one which will be entirely in Latvian. The exact date of release is yet to be announced. Markus stated:
My plan this year is to publish three albums – in Latvian, English as well as in Russian. I’m still working on material in all these languages. This year I have also released two songs in Ukrainian, one of which is now also being played by various Ukrainian radio stations.
However, it’s the easiest and most enjoyable when I have to sing in my own language, so I am very dedicated in creating an album in Latvian.
Markus also released the first single from his Latvian album. The song is titled “Nevaru Tā” (Eng: I Can Not), and you can give it a listen right here:
