Fuego still burning in Spain as Eleni Foureira gains Platinum status

Today it was announced that Promusicae, the organisation responsible for compiling the Spanish Singles chart, has announced that Eleni Foureira’s ‘Fuego’ has been certified Platinum in Spain.  To achieve Platinum status in Spain you need to sell 40,000 copies of a single and therefore this is an amazing achievement for any Eurovision song, particularly outside of its own country.

The Listas Ventas España, which posts the certifications awarded in Spain, made the announcement on its Twitter account as follows:

There was further good news for Eleni in Spain when it was announced that ‘Fuego’ had also entered the Top 10 on the Los 40 chart.  The Los 40 radio station is the most influential pop music station in the country and will provide further momentum to the single’s success, 3 months since the Contest:

‘Fuego’ of course was Cyprus’s best ever result at Eurovision, finishing in second place with a total of 436 points.  Since the contest Eleni has performed on tour around Europe and also released the song ‘Caramelo’ from the movie Aigaio SOS.
