Supernova continues to shine in 2019!
As the magical date of September 1st approaches, every Eurovision fan knows that the new season is upon us, and all songs released to the public from that date onwards can be deemed to be eligible to compete in our beloved song contest.
Latvian broadcaster LTV have seized upon that fact to announce that they will once again be rolling out their “Supernova” selection to choose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, expected to be held in Israel in May 2019.
Their official Facebook page has revamped it’s name to “Supernova 2019” and with the hallowed date falling on a Saturday, have decided to open submissions for entries from Monday 3rd September at 1000hrs CET. Songs can be submitted up until 2359hrs on Sunday 21 October 2018.
Whilst no details have yet been released as to the platform to be used for these submissions, previous years’ songs have been sent in via the official website so it is likely to be utilised in the same way. No doubt over the coming days more information will be released.
Latvia’s entrant for 2018, Laura Rizzotto, has recently been back to her adopted homeland from her residence in the US, to appear in the Summer Sound Festival in Liepāja, and her twitter feed shared her thoughts on her appearance including some amazing shots!
What a magical night… thank you for the love, Liepāja! Performing here mean the world to me for so many reasons… thank you for dancing, singing along and sharing your magic with me. Es mīlu tevi! ♥️✨🇱🇻✨

Laura’s song “Funny Girl” appeared in the second semi final at the Altice Arena in Lisbon on Thursday May 10th, where she finished 12th with 106 points, sadly failing to reach the Grand Final.
Following that semi final disappointment, LTV held a meeting with participants including presenter Toms Grēviņš, where a number of recommendations were reached including Supernova being open to participants aged from 16 years and confirming that the aim of the contest is to support the local music industry.
Supernova is always greatly anticipated here at ESCBubble, and we can confirm that our coverage will once again include all the usual interviews and blogging of the earlier rounds and we are planning to travel to the Supernova final for the third year running to give you the best news and views from behind the scenes !
