Following our report last night about the series of “thank you” and “goodbye” tweets from the official Twitter accounts of BNT’s Eurovision project and Deyan Yordanov (a member of the delegation of Bulgaria), one of the members of Equinox – Georgi Simeonov has confirmed on his Twitter that Bulgaria is indeed withdrawing from the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Georgi Simeonov, also known as JJ, is a member of the band Equinox, who represented Bulgaria in Eurovision in Lisbon earlier this year. He posted the following Tweet only moments ago:

I'm extremely sad and disappointed to hear that Bulgaria is withdrawing from Eurovision. It was one if the few opportunities for the Bulgarian performers….

JJ states that the reason behind Bulgaria’s withdrawal is “mostly financial”. There is still no official confirmation on BNT’s Twitter account, so stay tuned for more information to come.
