Tamta approached for Cyprus “I haven’t listened to any song”

Rumours have been speculating recently that several artists may have been approached by the Cypriot Eurovision Broadcaster, RIK, as they search for their 2019 representative.

Our colleagues at OGAE Greece have confirmed to us that Tamta, the 37 year old extremely popular singer, has confirmed that her record label has been approached about the possibility of being the next Cypriot representative and that dialogue has commenced.

OGAE Greece went on to confirm:

Today, through the TV show Έλα, χαμογέλα ,  Tamta said that the Cypriot public service broadcaster approached her record company, Minos-EMI. However, she denied that she has listened, or even more has recorded any of the candidate songs.

In particular, Tamta, stated today (24/11) in the show:

RIK has actually approached Minos-EMI, my record company, and I know that among other candidates they mentioned my name. My opinion, is the same like the other years: I want to listen to a good song, to like it and then I would be grateful and proud. It will be an honour to represent either Cyprus, Georgia or Greece. One country I grew up in, the other supported me, they gave me a lot of things all of them. But from Greece, no, there has not been a proposal for Eurovision.

OGAE Greece contacted RIK and they confirmed their contact not only with Minos-EMI but also with other record companies. The Cypriot public broadcaster also denied the rumours that artists have or have not listened to the songs.

Tamta rose to fame when came second on the Greek tv show ‘Super Idol Greece’.  She subsequently went on to participate in the 2007 Greek selection process, finishing third with the entry ‘With Love’:

Tamta is most well known for her bangers and her most watched video on YouTube is this tropical flavoured ethno summer bop ‘Ilious ke thalasses’, a genre which she may well bring to the contest :
