As we previously brought to you, the Cypriot Broadcaster RIK, is gearing up to make an announcement about the artist who will represent Cyprus at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. We already know that Tamta is in the running following a television interview where she confirmed her record label had been approached.
The CYBC Facebook page is now in the process of dropping hints about the reveal via questions and teasers during the course of this week. And we think they’ve just dropped their biggest one yet:
So ready for the first quiz? What does this amazing billboard hit by J.Lo gotta do with the 2019 ESC Cyprus entry?
This could suggest several things. Firstly J Lo and Pitbull have worked with Alex P before on the single ‘Live It Up’. Alex P of course already has strong links with the Cypriot broadcaster following their best ever finish in 2018 with Eleni Foureira’s ‘Fuego’ finishing in 2nd place.
Alex also co-wrote some other amazing Eurovision bangers:
- Sarbel – Yassou Maria (Greece 2007)
- Aysel and Arash – Always (Azerbaijan 2009)
- Ivi Adamou – La La Love (Cyprus 2012)
One of the writers of ‘On The Floor’ is Teddy Sky. Teddy Sky is also part of a band called VAX alongside Alex P. So either one or both could be the key to solving this link.
Alternatively it could be the influence of RedOne, the massive Moroccan hit producer, who Alex P has collaborated with on several occasions.
The wildest idea would be Jennifer Lopez herself but we think that’s really clutching at straws.
We’ll keep you updated as Cyprus gears up for its announcement. In the meantime let’s enjoy one of Alex P’s Eurovision smashes ‘La La Love’:
