Find out the first six finalists in The X Factor Malta

Tonight TVM, the Maltese national broadcaster for Eurovision, revealed the first six acts who will compete in the live shows. The winner of The X Factor Malta will be the country’s participant at Eurovision in Tel Aviv in May!

As per the standard X Factor format the Judges House round was used to reduce the numbers in each category from the six down to three.

There were many familiar faces tonight from former Maltese National Finals including Danica Muscat, Jade Vella, Petra and Franklin Calleja. Also on the show tonight was Anna, the mother of former Eurovision stars Claudia and Fabrizio Faniello!

The artists and songs performed at Judge’s House in each category were:

The Girls” (Judge: Howard Keith):

Michela Pace – ‘Turning Tables’

Kelsey Bellante – ‘What Is Love’

Nicole Frendo – ‘Strange Birds’

Danica Muscat – ‘Your Song’

Jade Vella – ‘Bang Bang’

Karin Duff – ‘Run’

It was then for Judge Howard Keith to make his final decision, and the lucky first three through to live shows are:

  • Michela Pace
  • Nicole Frendo
  • Kelsey Bellante

“The Overs” (Judge: Ray Mercieca):

Anna Azzopardi – ‘Tears Always Win’

Franklin Calleja – ‘Somebody To Love’

Anna Faniello – ‘Piccolo Grande Amore’

Ben Purplle – ‘Iron Sky’

Vanessa Sultana – ‘River Deep, Mountain High’

Petra – ‘Make It Rain’

Ray then deliberated hard and picked the following three to progress:

  • Ben Purplle
  • Petra
  • Franklin Calleja

Next week we’ll see ‘The Boys’ and the ‘Groups’ category Judges House stage including last years MESC contestant Aidan! Let us know what you think of the live finalists so far on our social media channels!
