Australia Decides: Kate Miller-Heidke releases entry “Zero Gravity”

Kate Miller-Heidke has released her entry for this years Australia Decides entitled “Zero Gravity”. As Kate told broadcaster SBS, the song for the Australian National final talks about the singer coming out of depression that she has since recovered from, featuring the lyrics:

Hey you

Lock with no key

Hey you

Earth with no sea

I’ve been freezing

On the ground

You’re so heavy

I can’t let you keep me down anymore

Trained as a classical singer at the Queensland Conservatorium, Kate has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and has held several roles at the English National Opera.

Kate has been nominated for multiple ARIA Awards and has also performed on stage. Her most famous track “The Last Day on Earth”, hit number 3 in Australia and has been used in numerous TV shows such as The Big C and Neighbours.

With her collaborator Keir Nuttall, Kate has written the music and lyrics to Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical, which premiered at the Sydney Theatre Company and will play a return season in Sydney and Melbourne throughout 2019. It won five Helpmann Awards in 2018, which celebrates Australia’s performing arts, including Best Original Score.

‘Australia Decides’ will be recorded at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th February. You can get tickets by clicking here.
