Dates announced for Romania’s Selectia Nationala, and a new Head of Delegation appointed!

Selectia Nationala, Romania’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest has undergone various changes in its format for 2019. Televoters will once again have a say in the semi finals, whilst an international jury will have a 50% say in the Final.

After Dan Bittman withdrew from the competition due to other commitments abroad, 23 acts are going to compete to represent Romania in Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv. Two semi finals are going to be held – first in Iasi on the 27th of January, and then on the 10th of February in Arad. The Grand Final of Selectia Nationala will take place on the 17th of February in Bucharest.

Apart from this, TVR has also appointed a new Head of Delegation – Smaranda Vornicu-Shalit. She was part of the successful Cerbul de Aur – an international festival held last year in Brasov. She stated the following:

To be nominated as part of the TVR team for the Eurovision 2019 project is an honor and a great responsibility. I wish that the experience gained in the Cerbul de Aur International Festival will be supported by this shared dream of us, whether we are talking about artists and fans, the general public and the organizers. We all want the best possible outcome for Romania in the finals in Tel Aviv!
