Your first ESCBubble new music update of 2019

Happy New Year to all ESCBubble visitors from the weekly New Music article! We’re well rested and now ready to search out all of those new songs that we know you like to check out once a week. We’re back to searching for that fresh music from former Eurovision artists and those who didn’t quite get past their National selections.

Dima Bilan and Polina Gagarina – BilanPholiya

We start off your new year with a collaboration of two Russian Eurovision artists who have 3 Top 2 finishes between them. Dima Bilan finished second in 2006 with ‘Never Let You Go’ and then went on to win in 2008 with ‘Believe’. Polina Gagarina was runner up in 2015 with ‘A Million Voices’.

Barei – Bitter Cold

It’s definitely been a busy winter for 2016 Spanish entrant Barei. Social media was stunned by the amazing pregnancy journey she’s been through, at one stage her soon to be born twins looked ready to burst out!! It’s only right that we share the video with you too for her new single ‘Bitter Cold’, where she shows you the latter stages of her pregnancy and reveals the names of her new born twins!

DoReDos – Constantine

The Moldovan 2018 Eurovision trio are back. DoReDos took Moldova to the Grand Final for the second year running, with the fun and colourful entry ‘My Lucky Day’ finishing 10th in the Grand Final. ‘Constantine’ doesn’t deviate far from the folky but upbeat DoReDos sound and if you liked ‘My Lucky Day’ you may well love this too!

Srbuk – Half A Goddess

In a slightly different turn for us, we’re featuring an artist who hasn’t been to Eurovision or competed in a National selection before! Srbuk was named as Armenia’s act for 2019 on 30th November, having previously been a runner up on The X Factor Armenia in 2012. ‘Half A Goddess’ is her current single and is definitely something that may give us a clue about about her Eurovision song which is yet to be released:

Sarit Hadad & MaZeZe – One Kiss

In an unexpected turn of events, Israeli 2002 singer Sarit Hadad has pulled an absolute ethnobanger of a cover of Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa’s ‘One Kiss’ out of the bag. Sarit finished 12th at Eurovision 2002 with her song ‘Nadlik Beyakhad Ner (Light a Candle)’, however she’s swapped the peace ballad for an almighty screamer version of one of last year’s biggest hits! Check it out below:

Poli Genova – ГЕРОИТЕ

Bulgaria’s 2011 and 2016 Eurovision artist Poli Genova has returned with a new single called ‘ГЕРОИТЕ’ (Eng: ‘Heroes’). The singer of ‘Na Inat’ and ‘If Love Was A Crime’ introduced the song on her instagram saying:

I chose to present you the #Heroes today because it is a special project for me inspired by the strong, brave people, regardless of age, gender and race. Exactly those who are not afraid to fight for their future!
Because that’s us – #Heroes of our time!

Check out ‘ГЕРОИТЕ’ below:

Lola Indigo, Mala Rodríguez – Mujer Bruja

Lola Indigo is a fantastic new Spanish artist who we featured before with her hit ‘Ya No Queiro Ná’, and who took part in last year’s Operacion Triunfo, the format Spain uses to currently select its Eurovision artist. Single number 1 reached number 3 on the Spanish Promusicae charts, and she’ll be looking for another big hit alongside Male Rodríguez on ‘Mujer Bruja’ (Eng: ‘Witch Woman’):

Elina Born – Tagasi Me

Three time Eesti Laul contestant Elina Born is back, and she’s released a new song ‘Tagasi Me’. Elina of course won the Estonian selection in 2015 alongside Stig Rasta with ‘Goodbye To Yesterday’, eventually finishing 7th at the Grand Final. Stig also wrote her other two attempts ‘Enough’ (8th in 2013) and ‘In Or Out” (10th in 2017). ‘Tagasi Me’ (Eng: ‘Back To Me’) is a downtempo but electronic number, very different in style to her usual material:

Severina – Imaš Pravo

Severina represented Croatia in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 12th with her turbo-folk number ‘Moja štikla’. Her new single ‘Imaš Pravo’ (Eng: ‘You’re Right’) is a very subdued but rousing ballad, and very much fits the ‘Balkan Ballad’ mould. The song was released just before Christmas, but we didn’t want you to miss out:
