Freedom Jazz reject UA:PBC’s offer to represent Ukraine in Eurovision 2019!

After the Ukrainian national broadcaster provided Maruv – the winner of Vidbir 2019 with a contract she wouldn’t sign for various different reasons, UA:PBC seems to be going down the list of results of the Ukrainian Final, and contacted the second placed band Freedom Jazz to represent Ukraine at this year’s Eurovision. The band now confirmed that they have refused the offer.

Freedom Jazz finished in second place at Vidbir 2019 with their song “Cupidon” after winning the jury vote, and placing third with the public. They confirmed moments ago that they got contacted by UA:PBC after Maruv failed to reach an agreement with the national broadcaster on various clauses of the contract she was required to sign, and released the following statement:

Thank you for your support, love, and for all the time you are with us! We are so happy that you have helped us to reach the 2th place at the national Selection for Eurovision 2019! Our main victory is you! For you we are experimenting, writing songs, doing fascinating productions and doing art. Maybe someday, we will once again try ourselves in the national selection…
But now that we got a call from UA:PBC and we want to inform you that we’re rejecting the offer of going to Eurovision 2019.
But our “Cupidon” 💘 flies on.
Now we are at the stage of signing a contract with European promoters and the negotiation of participating in festivals for the nearest time.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts! 💋
Sending our love to you! ❤️

Whether UA:PBC is going to go more down on the list and contact Kazka who finished in third place with “Apart”, or someone else, or ultimately withdraw from the competition, is yet to be seen.
