Sigmund: ”I would literally drop dead and have a heart attack!”

Sigmund Trondheim is 23 year old guy from Sørvad and an all-round entertainer!
Next to being a singer he’s also a very skilled dancer, having his education at Det Kongelige Teaters Balletskole (The Royal Theater’s Ballet School) in Holstebro, close to where Sigmund grew up.
But Denmark really got to know him when he also showed them his singing side during X Factor in Denmark last year, under the wings of his coach, Danish rock legend, Sanne Salomonsen!

Here you can see Sigmund using his dancing skills for something really meaningful, he’s giving youngsters from Syria a dancing clinic!

On Saturday, all eyes will be on Sigmund again as he’ll be competing in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019!
The event is close but luckily he found the time to talk to us just a few days before the show!

Hi Sigmund! Congrats on making it into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019! What made you decide to compete?

Thank you so much!
Music is what I do now and I love it so much so when i recieved the offer, I didn’t think twice! I shared it with my manager and my family and they all thought it was a great idea! And eurovision has made me who I am!
I’ve done nothing but sing and dance and watch ESC and obsess over certain numbers since i was a little boy! This is a life long dream coming true!

Can you tell us what your song ‘Say My Name’ is about?

Say my name is about saying your name in your head or even out loud again and again and again until you feel confident and secure again!
It’s about celebrating your uniqueness and being proud of your flaws and unafraid to show others that you believe in yourself even when others dont!

You’ve participated in X Factor last year, does that give you an extra confidence boost for this competition?

Yes it really does!
In X Factor I learned that music is what my calling is and this is what I’m greatest at!
And X Factor taught me how to perform and dance and have energy on stage!

In 2015 you’ve been on stage in Boxen [The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019 venue] for the first time and now you’ll be standing on that huge stage again!
What does that mean to you?

In a way I’m returning home!
It’s pretty emotional, I used to dream of being a star when I was nothing but a hard working student living in Herning. And I performed as Lady Gaga in Boxen, yes, and would never imagine coming back and now on live TV in Eurovision! CRAZYYY😍

Can you reveal anything about your staging yet?

Yes, its gonna be sickening!
And i’m gonna look flawless and dance and there will also be background dancers and the theatrics will be spot on.
But not more than that, you’ll have to wait and see!

In case you win this weekend, how do you think you would react? And what would it mean to you to represent your country in Eurovision?

I would literally drop dead and have a heart attack😭
It would mean my entire life and world if I win and that would be the highest form of succes I’ve reached so far in my career.
And if I dont win I will still be just as grateful and excited over this overwhelming and big opportunity.

Do you have any plans for after Dansk Melodi Grand Prix to share with us?

Yes, I’m going to release a lot of music this summer to all my fans and really kickstart my music career and make a lot of delicious dance hits wich has always been my dream!

Thank you very much Sigmund, and we wish you the best of luck in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix!
