Maxim Zavidia: “Since my participation in 2016 a lot of things came and changed my life”

The ESC Bubble team have landed in Chisinau to cover this year’s O Melodi Pentru Europa selection to be held on Eurovision’s notorious Super Saturday – March 2nd 2019. Unlike it’s neighbors Romania and Ukraine, things have been quite low key here in Moldova much to the ESC community’s relief!

One of the hot favorites in this year’s selection is Maxim Zavidia, who has gone on to an extensive music career after moving to Russia since his 2016 appearance. Followers of O Melodi Pentru Europa will probably remember his 1950’s inspired doo-wop number “La La Love”

Well now he’s back and hungry as ever to take the O Melodi Pentru Europa victory! This time he’s teamed up with songwriters Primož Poglajen, Michael James Down, Jonas Gladinoff and Will Taylor, who’s CV collectively boasts songs for Sergey Lazarev, Andrea Demirovic, MIHAI, Viktoria Petryk, Eleanor Cassar, Hera Bjork, Sara Aalto and most notably for former Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh’s 2010 come back entry “It’s For You” for Ireland.

His entry this year will be the anthemic power ballad “I Will Not Surrender” which you can listen to below.

During a break from his rehearsals at District 4 studios in Chisinau he kindly sat down with us for an interview.

If you’re a fan of both “La La Love” and his entry in this year’s entry in O Melodie Pentru then why not check out his dance floor banger “Midnight Kingdom” with DJ Tenesso below.

Maxim will be performing in the 5th slot in this weekend’s O Melodie Pentru Europa which you can see from 20.15 CET Saturday 2nd March, and of course we will live blog all the Moldovan action live from the TRM studios here at ESC Bubble!

If Maxim is your personal favorite in O Melodie Pentru Europa, make sure you cast your vote for him in our poll here:
