Return of Australian National Final Confirmed for 2020

SBS have announced confirmation that their national final ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides‘ will be returning for their 2020 selection following the inaugural success, with the dates for the selection confirmed as Friday 7th February and Saturday 8th February 2020.

Earlier this year, Kate Miller-Heidke won the first ever Australian national selection show with her song ‘Zero Gravity‘. It went on to wow audiences globally with a high-flying performance and secured Australia yet another top 10 placing at the Eurovision Song Contest!

SBS and production partner Blink TV announced that ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ will return to the Gold Coast in February 2020, giving Australians the chance to vote for the artist and song to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands. Comedian Joel Creasey and music buff Myf Warhurst will once again host the selection show.

The show is in association with the Queensland Government via Tourism and Events Queensland, the City of Gold Coast and Screen Queensland, Eurovision – Australia Decides will be presented at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Tickets are already on sale and a link can be accessed via the SBS Eurovision website.

SBS have already opened the song portal on their website for all submissions, with the deadline being set as 30th September 2019. There are no restrictions on the number of songs that composers or songwriters can submit however they must follow the usual Eurovision standard rules.

The ten shortlisted songs along with the ten performers competing for their chance to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will be revealed later in the year. Check out the official SBS trailer for the show here:
