Sofia Ivanko will be representing Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2019!

Sofia Ivanko has been chosen to represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019!

Sofia is 13 years old, loves being a songwriters and experimenting with different musical styles while doing so and takes piano and singing lessons to bring all that talent out!
Determined to make it to Junior Eurovision, this is her third attempt, which proved to be victorious! Earlier this year, she also tried her luck on the Ukrainian version of The Voice Kids, where she joined the team of Eurovision winner Jamala!

This afternoon it was announced that she had won the online selection broadcaster UA:PBC had organised. Ten candidates were shortlisted and a 7-member jury have chosen Sofia as their favourite.
Among the jury members was Alyosha (Ukraine 2010) and she said:

We have decided that Sofia Ivanko would be the best representative of Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year. Why? Because she very much stands out from other participants, she is very special, she has her specific, very expressively emotional character, she is mysterious and there is something about her, not characteristic of other people or other participants. The song needs a little more extra work, and then it will be very cool material, a cool song. I hope that Ukraine’s entry will be highly appreciated not only here, in this room, but also all over the world.

In Poland, Gliwice-Silesia to be more precise, she will be singing the song she won the selection with, ‘ Koly Zdaietsia’ (English: When It Seems), which you can hear right here but bear in mind that a final version if to follow at a later stage!

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will take place on Sunday, the 24th of November.
