2545 songs have been sent in for Melodifestivalen 2020!

SVT are once again smiling broadly at the amount of songs having been sent in for Melodifestivalen!
For the 2020 edition, 2545 songs have been registered when the deadline passed, which is 250 more than last year!
Melodifestivalen expert Gustav Dahlander has calculated this means each of those songs has a 0.5% chance of making it into the competition, 1 in 200!

Contest producer Karin Gunnarsson has a few words for us on the increased amount of entries:

It’s absolutely delightful that the interest in Melodifestivalen 2020 is that huge!
The amount of songs has grown with 250 entries compared to last year.
Now the jury process awaits us, where 13 of the 28 songs will be chosen.

In her last sentece, Karin refers to the 15 others songs being chosen by SVT.
Fourteen of them to compete the battle field while the missing artist we already know!
It’s Amanda Aasa who was handpicked by SVT from the final of the P4 Nästa competition and secured herself a guaranteed place in Melodifestivalen that way. She will get a new song written especially for her to compete in Melodifestivalen 2020.

This year, John Lundvik won Melodifestivalen with ‘Too Late for Love’ and landed Sweden a 5th place in Tel Aviv!

Who do you hope have sent in a song?
