Switzerland opens their call for songs for Eurovision 2020!
After a great success earlier this year in Tel Aviv, the Swiss national broadcasters SRF, together with RTS, RSI and RTR, have opened their call for songs for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Rotterdam on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May. Once again, a 100-member audience panel and a 20-member international jury of experts select the winning song and the artist for Switzerland.
Starting from today, all artists and songwriters are welcome to submit their songs for the Swiss national selection, which will once again be held behind close doors. The songs cannot be released, nor publicly performed before the actual announcement of the Swiss representative. SRF is accepting songs until the 16th of September at 12:00pm local time on their online platform at www.srf.ch/esc.
A 100-member audience panel together with a 20-member international jury will listen to all of the submitted entries and rate the songs and artists. The winner, and the Swiss entry for Eurovision 2020 will also be decided by these two panels, as both panels will have a 50% say in the final outcome.
Composers and artists of all nationalities are welcome to submit their entries to the Contest, however – in case of a tie, the performers with Swiss nationality or Swiss residence will have the advantage.
Luca Hanni was chosen to represent Switzerland in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, and his song “She Got Me” finished in fourth place – Switzerland’s best result since 1993.
