Various changes in Lithuania’s Eurovision selection for 2020!

Lithuania’s national broadcaster LRT has just announced that they are once again organizing a national selection marathon to find their entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, however they are implementing various changes to their 2019 selection process.

The Deputy Director General of LRT, Gytis Oganauskas, announced that the 2020 national selection will last for six weeks – from early January until mid-February:

We are shortening the selection for the sake of quality, with more carefully selected, and more professionally presented works.

Other changes in the national selection include:

  • one artist will be allowed to compete with one song only
  • the jury will be present, however, they will watch the performances in a separate studio, and will not provide comments after each of the performances.
  • televoting results will not be shown during the show as it was the case until now. They will only be shown at the end of the show.

All interested artists will be able to submit their songs from the 30th of September, and the submission window is going to close on the 8th of December.

Jurij Veklenko won Eurovizijos Atranka in 2019, and went on to represent Lithuania in Tel Aviv with “Run With The Lions”. He missed out on the Grand Final by a single point.
