Carola denies the rumors of her Melodifestivalen comeback
Yesterday the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet published an article that told Eurovision legend Carola Häggkvist might be taking part of the Swedish national selection for Eurovision, Melodifestivalen, in 2020. However, the fans of the three-time Mello-winner had to face a disappointment, when Carola denied the rumors in her official Instagram account.
In her Instagram post Carola tells that she has been asked to participate Melodifestivalen 2020 twice by high-profile songwriters, but she has humbly said ‘no thank you’. According to Carola, she doesn’t want to go through the ‘media circus’ that is a part of shows like Melodifestivalen or Let’s Dance, in which she’s also not planning to participate. In her post Carola also sends her thanks to all who hoped that she would take part in the contest.

This makes her probably the most successful Eurovision artist right after Johnny Logan, who won the contest for Ireland three times, twice as a performing artist and songwriter and once as a songwriter of Linda Martin’s winning song Why me in 1992. Carola’s best result in Eurovision is of course her victory in 1991, when she took the trophy with Fångad av en stormvind:
