Destiny Chukunyere auditions for X Factor Malta

Following a few months of rumours and speculations, last night one of the most famous Maltese singers to Eurovision and Junior Eurovision fans – Destiny Chukunyere – had her X Factor Malta audition aired.

Fans will recognise Destiny as the incredible winner of the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where at the age of 13 she impressed audiences across Europe with her soulful pop song ‘Not My Soul‘. Now aged 17, Destiny is hoping to wow audiences once again on one of Malta’s most successful TV shows – X Factor Malta.

Young Destiny chose to sing Jennifer Hudson’s track ‘Giving Myself’ which allowed her to show off her range and soulful voice. You can watch her audition here:

Destiny couldn’t hide her excitement after she performed, being greeted by a wave of applause and compliments by the judges. One of Malta’s most successful Eurovision artists and biggest singers, Ira Losco, was blown away by Destiny’s audition and it was no surprise that she got the four yeses needed to make it through to Bootcamp.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the X Factor Malta will once again be used as the artist selection process for the Maltese Eurovision representative, following Michela’s success with her 14th place finish with ‘Chameleon‘ earlier this year in Tel Aviv.

This isn’t Destiny’s first TV talent show appearance, as she also appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2017, where she made it to the live Semi Finals. At her audition, Simon Cowell said they “have been waiting for someone to come out who could be a star” and that “Destiny may be the one“.

As we wait for the rest of the auditions to finish, check out Destiny’s Junior Eurovision record-breaking winning performance from 2015.
