Natalia Pugacheva dies at 83

Described as a “Eurovision Superstar” when she appeared in Baku 2012 as part of the Russian supergroup “Buranovskiye Babushki” , we have received the sad news this afternoon that Natalia Pugacheva has died.

Natalia was loved by fans and press alike, when asked in Baku if she knew that she was the most charming woman in the contest, she is reported to have replied “I don’t understand what you were talking about, I can be a bad girl sometimes”.

With her cheeky smile dominating the performance of the Babushki’s song “Party For Everybody”, it was assured a good placing in the final, but winning the first semi final by some distance and coming a credible 2nd in the Grand Final to the all-conquering Loreen must have been confusing for the woman from the small village of Buranovo.

The sad news was broken on Twitter by the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov.

Our condolences go to her family and friends

In remembrance, here is the Eurovision Grand Final performance by the Buranovskiye Babushki .
