Victor Crone rumoured for Melodifestivalen Return

Swedish singer Victor Crone, who participated as Estonia’s representative in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, is the latest name rumoured for Melodifestivalen 2020 due to launch in February. This would mark the second time he has participated after he debuted in 2015.

Earlier this year, Victor Crone teamed up with Estonian powerhouse Stig Rästa, entering Estonia’s 2019 national selection with dance-pop track ‘Storm‘. Having stormed to victory in Eesti Laul with huge support from the voting public, Victor easily qualified for the Eurovision final before placing 20th with 76 points. You can check out his final performance here:

Back in 2015, Victor debuted at Melodifestivalen alongside Behrang Miri with the track ‘Det rår vi inte för‘. The song qualified for the second chance round (Andra Chansen) before losing the duel with Samir & Viktor.

Swedish paper Aftonbladet have identified Victor as one of their first speculated artists for Melodifestivalen, alongside 2019 debutant Hanna Ferm and Idol finalist Jakob Karlberg. Following his successful appearance at Eurovision this year and follow-up tour, he has also just signed a record with Roxy Records – who also works with artists including Malena Ernman and Lena Philipsson.

Could this be the next step for Victor? Whilst Aftonbladet aren’t always correct with their Melodifestivalen rumours, their sources suggest that he will be presenting a dance-pop song similar to ‘Storm‘, which many compared with Avicii’s style. Whilst another insider says that following the commerical success in Sweden of his Eurovision single, this would be the next step to maintain the momentum.

Recently, Swedish Melodifestivalen & Eurovision legend Carola was rumoured to be making a comeback to the competition, however she has since confirmed that she declined the invitation by Christer Björkman.

The full list of participants is likely to be revealed by broadcaster SVT within a month or so, with an exact deal usually released over the next few weeks.
