Montenegro withdraws for 2020!

Our friends at ESCToday have reported that the Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG have confirmed to them that they will NOT be participating at the Eurovision Song Contest in May which will be held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The EBU gave RTCG until 10 October to confirm that they would be appearing at the 65th edition of the contest, but they were sadly unable to meet the requirements by that date.

There is however a glimmer of hope, as a final deadline has been set for the end of November, and so there is a chance that this decision could yet be overturned.

Montenegro have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 11 times as an independent state, with their best position being 13th in 2015, when Knez sung the glorious “Adio” in Vienna. They have been unable to qualify for the Grand Final since then, but always bring something different to the contest and will be missed.

At ESCBubble we will hope that there is better news at the end of the month, but for now will celebrate the entries of this Balkan nation with the fabulous Who See & Nina Zizic with “Igranka” from 2013 which will remain a fan favourite, despite finishing 12th in their semi final in Malmo, Sweden.
