Kanita Suma: “I like simple things but with lots of feelings”

The 58th edition of Festivali i Kenges starts tomorrow evening, when the first 10 acts are going to step on the stage at the Pallati i Kongreseve in Tirana, hoping to make it to the Final night on Sunday. Fourth act tomorrow evening is going to be Kanita Suma, who is going to compete with the song “Ankth”, written by Boban Apostolov and Lindon Berisha.

We had a great pleasure to chat with Kanita ahead of the show, to find out more about this very talented girl, and to get some more information about her song, and her performance tomorrow evening. Check out everything she told us in this interview right here:

Hi Kanita! First of all, thank you for taking your time out for speaking to us! For the beginning, what can you tell us about your career so far?

It all started years ago when I was in X Factor. I was only 11 year old. After that I tried some projects by myself, and then 3 years ago when I signed a contract with my Manager Arian Demolli, things started to be profesional and serious.

How was your experience in the X Factor?

It was a good experience, and I think it this show is the best opportunity for singers that didn’t have a chance to show themselves before.

Can you tell us more about “Ankth”, what is the song about, and who is behind the song?

“Ankth” or Anxiety in English is a thing that lots of people are fighting with. When we started writing this song we had this theme in our minds. The producer Boban Apostolov and the lyricist Lindon Berisha did a great work. Lindon did exactly what I asked for the lyrics and I’m thankful to him and to the entire team.

This wasn’t the first time you worked with Boban, as he wrote one of your previous singles “Don’t Let Me Go”, which went on to achieve an international success. Can you tell us more about your collaboration?

Yeah, Boban Apostolov is a great copmoser, we worked together from “Don’t Let Me Go” which was an international hit, and we won a Platinum plaque for that song as well.

Do you have plans to work together more after FiK?

Yes of course, Boban is part of the team with my manager Arian Demolli. We have more new songs together that will be released soon.

Do you already have plans about how your performance is going to be like in Festivali i Kenges?

It will be a simple performance, I like simple things but with lots of feelings.

What would it mean to you to win Festivali i Kenges and go on to represent Albania in Eurovision in 2020?

It will be a honour if I would win and represent my country in Eurovision.

Have you had a chance to listen to the other 19 competing songs? And which one of those would you say is your biggest competition?

Yeah i listed to some of the songs. I can’t say anything about that because every song has its own potential.

What are your inspirations when it comes to music?

From the beginning of my career my inspiration was Beyonce.

Are you currently engaged in any other projects, apart from FiK?

Yes, very soon we will release a song which we filmed in Austria in St.Anton. This song is also composed by the same team as “Ankth”.

Do you have your own all time favorite Eurovision song, either from Albania, or from any other country?

Rona Nishliu with “Suus”.

Thank you very much for your time, and we wish you the best of luck at Festivali i Kenges!
