In just a few days, the Albanian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Festivali i Këngës will kick off! With semi finals on 19th and 20th December and the Grand Final on 22 December. In semi final 1 we will meet 16 year old Sara Bajraktari who will perform with her song “Ajër”. We were lucky enough to have a chat with her about her song, herself and her expectations towards the Festivali i Këngës.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into music?
My name is Sara, I’m 16 years old.I started to sing when i was seven years old after i saw a commercial about a concert on TV and i asked my mom if I could audition. My mom agreed, so I auditioned and did very well. Since then I’ve participated in several music competitions, been present on different stages, so here I am, finally at the festival I consider most important. 

What is your song all about, and what does it mean to you?
My song is based on my personal life and it means a lot to me because it is dedicated to a very special person.

Who is your favorite Albanian and international artist?
My favourite Albanian artist is Aurela Gace, whereas favorite international artist is H.E.R

What has been most fun with Festivali i Këngës so far?
My favourite memory so far is shooting the short clips for the festival where we were allowed to dance however we liked. 😊

If you were to win in the Grand Final, what would it mean to you as an artist to get to represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest?
I would see it as a blessing but at the same time as a great responsibility to represent Albania the best way it should be represented through art.

Can you tell us a little bit about how your stage performance will look like?That is something I would like to keep a secret for now. 

Do you have any favorite TV-show or movies?
My favourite movie is “Doctor Strange”.

What is your favorite food?
My favourite food is pasta.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
My favourite thing to do in my free time is to play the piano.

Besides Albania, FiK will be watched by thousands of Eurovision fans all over the World. Do you have a message or a greeting to them?
The only thing I want to say to Eurovision fans is :I will do my best to have a great performance and I hope you will enjoy the show 💕
