Portugal is once again organizing Festival da Canção in order to find their act for the Eurovision Song Contest. As we reported earlier, a total of 16 composers were invited/selected to compete in this year’s edition of the Contest, and they have all been allocated to one of the two semi finals.
The Portuguese national broadcaster RTP revealed on their official Youtube channel that they are going to reveal the names of the artists as well as their song titles, the names of the hosts of the show, and which city is going to host the Final of Festival da Canção 2020 next Wednesday, 15th of January.
Festival da Canção 2020 will consist of two semi finals – on the 22nd and the 29th of February, whilst the Grand Final is going to take place on the 7th of March. The winner, and the Portuguese entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is going to be selected by a mix of televoting and jury votes. The split of composers per semi finals is as follows:
Conan Osiris was the winner of Festival da Canção 2019, and he went on to represent Portugal in Tel Aviv with “Telemóveis”. He finished 15th in the first semi final, thus failing to make it to the Grand Final.
