Jeangu Macrooy will represent The Netherlands in Eurovision 2020!

After days of speculations of which artist who’s name starts with a J is going to represent the Netherlands at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, an official announcement has been made. Singer-songwriter Jeangu Macrooy is going to sing for the host country at the 2020 edition of the Contest!

Jeangu Macrooy was born in 1993 in Suriname, and moved to the Netherlands at the age of 21 where his career really took off. He participated in various Dutch festivals, he’s a recurring guest in TV shows and also, he was nominated twice for an Edison Award, the Dutch equivalent to the American Grammy Awards. Regarding his participation in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, Jeangu stated:

I am indescribably honored to represent The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020! It’s a dream come true and the most beautiful thing that has come my way so far. My team and I are excited to make you all very proud! Let’s go!

Eric van Stade, the Managing Director of AVROTROS, and a member of the selection committee said about his selection:

The song he delivered touched us right away. We are very happy that Jeangu wants to go on this journey with us!
