Azerbaijani broadcaster Ictimai officially confirmed that Samira Efendi will defend the colours of Azerbaijan at Eurovision Song Contest 2020. They went with the internal selection process where 5 candidates competed for a place to represent Azerbaijan in Rotterdam. Except for Samira who was chosen to represent the country artist list included: Laman Dadasheva, Elvin Novruzov, Jabrail Rasulov and Riad Abdulov. An international group of musical experts, such as authors, composers, music producers, journalists and television industry representatives voted Samira as the winner. This was her 5th attempt to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision.

The precise date when her entry is going to be revealed is not yet announced, as Ictimai stated that they will reveal the song in early March.

Samira Efendi is 28-year-old singer known for reaching third place in every show she competes. The list of the shows includes (The Voice of Azerbaijan, Silk Way Star and Yeni ulduz, Böyük Səhnə). She successfully represented Azerbaijan at the Voice of Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan, Could Eurovision be a contest where she will be also reaching 3rd place? We will find that out at the First semi-final which is set for the 12th of May.
