Lazar Živanović: “This will be one of the most memorable performances in this year’s Beovizija”

Beovizija 2020 is taking place this weekend, where a total of 24 acts are going to compete in order to represent Serbia at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. One of the participants is a newcomer on the Serbian music scene – Lazar Živanović, who is hoping to win this year’s contest with the song “Puklo je nebo”.

We had a lovely chat with Lazar ahead of the show, and in between other things we spoke to him about his modeling career, his first song “Sexy Santa Claus”, as well as his upcoming Beovizija performance. Check out everything he told us right here in this interview:

Hi Lazar! Thank you for taking your time out for doing this interview with us. For the very beginning, what can you tell us about your career so far?

Hi Ervin, it’s my pleasure to talk to you! Up until now I was working as a model, and I worked with the Fox Modeling Agency. I have worked in Sri Lanka, India and Serbia, and it was fantastic. I gained some great experiences, met wonderful people, and enjoyed the magic of beautiful foreign countries. My „official“ music step is this Beovizija participation right now.

Your very first music video was “Sexy Santa Claus”, which was directed by one of the most well-known music video directors in the Balkans, Dejan Milićević. How did your collaboration start?

Yes, that was my very first professional project in the music industry. The co-operation with Dejan came about by accident. The song was supposed to be sung by another singer. I was just supposed to sing the demo, and I did that on my phone. I never even hoped to meet Dejan Milićević on set soon after, and to be in Marko Kon’s music studio shortly after that. Basically, A&R from the US listened to that demo (who works together with Adis Eminić), and thanks to his feedback the following steps happened. And this song is an evergreen candidate.

How did you decide to enter Beovizija this year?

I believe that there is no better platform than Eurovision for someone who’s planning to have a successful international music career, so this is why I wanted to enter.

What can you tell us about the song, and the message it carries?

The song is fast, full of energy, and very Eurovision! 🙂

What kind of performance can we expect in Beovizija?

Dejan Milićević is in charge of my performance, so you can only expect the best. I’m absolutely sure that this will be one of the most memorable performances in this year’s Beovizija.

Did you follow Eurovision in the past couple of years, and did any song catch your attention?

I am following it, of course! 🙂 I would mention Eleni Foureira’s “Fuego”, as well as Conchita’s “Rise Like A Phoenix”.

What are your plans after Beovizija, and possibly Eurovision?

After Beovizija, and I hope after Eurovision 🙂 I’m planning to release a couple of new songs both for the Serbian and for the international music market.

Thank you so much for your time once again Lazar, and we wish you the best of luck in Beovizija!

Thank you!
