Supernova 2020 Review and On-Stage Interview with Samanta Tina
As we found out last night, Samanta Tina has won Supernova 2020 and will represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, competing in the second semi-final on May 14th with her song “Still Breathing”.
Anne managed to grab a few seconds with Samanta straight after her win, on the Supernova stage, and this is what she had to say
Late last year there were concerns that the Latvian broadcaster, LTV, would be dropping Supernova due to cost implications, and although the process was simplified down to just one show, the quality of production and songs was as brilliant as always!
As you will have seen from our live blog and instagram feed, LTV hosted a red carpet event prior to the show, where media were able to grab some time with the artists to chat about the upcoming performances.
When it came to the show, Joe and Anne were just 4 rows back on the right hand side, directly beneath the DJ who drops the beats during the ad breaks. Anne was caught on camera at one point, it was pretty fleeting though! The show was slick and professional, with Ketija Šēnberga and Toms Grēviņš hosting from the stage, and Beāte Bērziņa (known as Beta Beidz) chatting to the acts backstage. There was a televised green room backstage where we saw the acts gathered pre and post performance. From our seats, we could hear massive cheers as the acts came back there after their performances, there was really a lovely supportive feel from the whole Supernova family.
The results, which were 100% televote for the first time, came in and the full results were as follows:
- Samanta Tina “Still Breathing”
- Katrina Dimanta “Heart Beats”
- ANNNA “Polyester”
- Miks Dukurs “I’m Falling For You”
- Bad Habits “Sail With You”
- Seleste “Like Me”
- Edgars Kreilis “Tridymite”
- Katrina Bindere “I Will Break Your Heart”
- DRIKSNA “Stay”
LTV did a great job with the scaled down process in Latvia this year, and we really hope you enjoyed our coverage of the Latvian selection process over the past few weeks. Are you happy with the winner? let us know in the comments section!
