Estonia to send the winner of Eesti Laul 2021 to Eurovision

Following the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, the Estonian Eurovision broadcaster, ERR, has confirmed that Eesti Laul will be held as a National Final in 2021 and the winner of that will go to Eurovision.

Therefore Uku Suviste is no longer the Estonian representative for the next song contest, as things stand…..

The producer of Eesti Laul, Tomi Rahula, told ERR the following:

I’m very, very sorry. It’s a pity for the artist and the production team who have worked on it.

He went on to emphasise that this decision didn’t rest on ERR itself and affected all of the other broadcasters, he beleived that Uku could not succeed with the same song in a year’s time….

Unfortunately this is the case, and next year there will a new song contest. One and half years later, nobody goes to the event with the same songs, this is not a new story anymore.

It is therefore expected that the details of the a new Eesti Laul competition will be published at a future point.

However we can reveal that Uku was offered a semi final spot on the Ringvaade show this evening and he has accepted! So we may see him back at Eurovision 2021 with a fresh song.
