First referred to as “The former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia” the republic made its first appearance on the Eurovision stage in 1998 in Birmingham, U.K. where it ranked 19th. The Macedonian resume isn’t the most glorious one in the contest as it only managed to qualify 9 times out of 19 times it participated. Yet, Macedonian singers Kaliopi and Tamara Todevska are both popular among the Eurovision fans. Todevska herself got the country its highest score nowadays ranking 7th in 2019 while being ranked 1st in the jury votes the same year.
