The Roop cancel all travels abroad, including preview parties and postcard shooting!
The Roop won this year’s edition of Lithuania’s national selection, and they will thus represent their home country at Eurovision 2020 with the song “On Fire”. The band was set to shoot the postcards this weekend in the Netherlands, and also confirmed that they will be promoting their song at the London Eurovision Party on the 29th of March, as well as at the Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam on the 4th of April, but they have cancelled all of their trips abroad now.
The lead singer of the band, Vaidotas Valiukevičius, stated:
We do not want to risk our own or the public’s health. We follow the Government’s recommendations to avoid foreign travel. We believe prudence is the key to getting everyone back to normal.
Mantas Banišauskas, the guitar player of the band added:
The world needs to be very united right now. Now is not a period of war nor racing, but a period of concentration. We are looking forward to meeting everyone and wanting to spread the good virus of the “On Fire” dance to our world.
The Chief producer of LRT, and Lithuania’s Head of Delegation, Mr. Audrius Giržadas supports the decision of the band, and he added:
It is a pity that we have to delay the long-planned travel of our representatives, but such a decision is the only right step in this case. In the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, we have to be responsible and to avoid risks and visits to foreign countries as much as possible.
The band continues to work intensively on Eurovision and hopes that by mid-May the situation will improve and they will be able to do an amazing performance at the Contest in Rotterdam.
