After the world started shutting due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic it was just a matter of time till things will affect the world of Eurovision. This day didn’t tard to come and the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest which was set to take place in Rotterdam in May was cancelled. An additional message was published on behalf of the EBU concerning an alternative event which will take place in a non-competitive format. The event has an aim to unite all of the 2020’s artists as well as former Eurovision stars from their houses to a one night show.
Following former winners Johnny Logan and Helena Paparizou, the 2018 runner-up Eleni Foureira confirmed her participation in the show. Foureira represented Cyprus that year with her song “Fuego” which quickly became a fans’ favourite. Following her success in Lisbon, she was also invited to make a guest performance in the 2019’s edition of the contest which took place in Tel Aviv Israel where she would perform a memorable cover of the Ukrainian entry of 2007 “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”.
