Helena Paparizou to take part in “Europe Shine A Light”

Following the cancellation of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest which was to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands the EBU has decided to air an alternative show called “Europe Shine A Light”. The show which is scheduled to air on the 16th of May will bring together all the artists which were to compete in this year’s contest as well as former Eurovision participants.

Joining the list of Eurovision stars who will perform in this special show is the winner of the 2005 edition of the contest, Helena Paparizou. Helena won the contest for Greece with her song “My Number One” in Kiev and brought the contest to Greece. This wasn’t Paparizou’s only experience in the world of Eurovision as she represented her country in Copenhagen back in 2001 as a part of the duo “Antique” with “Die For You”. That year they finished 3rd, a ranking which then was the highest ranking for Greece. The Greek legendary singer would try her luck again in 2014 where she would compete in the Swedish national final “Melodifestivalen” with her song “Survivor” with which she ended 4th in the Melodifestivalen’s final.

Listen to Helena’s winning entry from 2005:

The EBU invited other former Eurovision stars to perform in the show. Therefore news concerning these artists’ participation is due in the weeks to come as we approach the show’s broadcasting.
