Song submissions for Melodi Grand Prix 2021 are opened!

Starting from today the 15th of May songs for Melodi Grand Prix 2021 can be submitted. The deadline to submit the song is 16th of August 2020.

Melodi Grand Prix 2021 will be held in January and February next year, with five semi-finals and one grand final. Producer and music manager Stig Karlsen says that they are constantly working in strengthening the search for the best songs and that was the reason why last year they introduced some new rules that will mainly be continued this year. They are going for quality ahead of quantity. In addition to the open submission, there will be a targeted research and direct dialogue with the music industry.

Information about submission procedure

Shorter registration window and earlier deadline than before as registration opens on 15th of May and closes on 16th of August 2020.
– It is encouraged that registered contributions have at least one Norwegian songwriter, as Melodi Grand Prix wants to prioritize and promote the Norwegian music scene.
– Each producer / songwriter can submit maximum three songs.
– Everyone can sign up their songs, but artists must have turned 16 years of age the latest in April 2021 in order to be part of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The invitation to submit the songs is open to anyone who writes songs. This is a unique opportunity to try to capture a place in the world’s biggest music competition. We are open to all kinds of music within a broad understanding of the pop genre. It can be anything from hard rock to bubblegum pop, and everything in between.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK plans will air a show Norway decides tonight with a start at 20:05 on NRK 1 and NRK TV in order to choose the favourite Eurovision 2020 entry of Norwegian audience.
