Samanta Tina confirmed for Latvia at Eurovision 2021

This evening, ahead of Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light, LTV broadcast their own show called “Eurovizija 2020: Studija Samanta Tina” and during that show Samanta was asked if she would like to represent Latvia at 2021.

Samanta had originally been chosen for Rotterdam 2020 having won the preselection process ‘Supernova’ back in February. It was the sixth attempt that she had made to represent Latvia, and was thrilled to finally get her chance to compete at Eurovision only for the show to be cancelled due to the global pandemic. We interviewed Samanta on stage in Riga that night, and you can see how much it meant to her.

So it is no surprise that Samanta accepted the invitation to come back to Eurovision in 2021.

You can see the emotional moment when Samanta was asked by the Show’s presenter Toms Grevins:

Samanta Tīna piedalīsies Eirovīzijā 2021. gadā

Samantai Tīnai, kura ar dziesmu “Still breathing” uzvarēja konkursā “Supernova 2020”, būs iespēja startēt uz lielās Eirovīzijas skatuves – Latvijas Televīzija pieņēmusi lēmumu ļaut Samantai pārstāvēt Latviju 2021. gada Eirovīzijā. Tiesa, ņemot vērā Eirovīzijas noteikumus, nākamā gada konkursā viņa nevarēs piedalīties ar dziesmu “Still breathing”.

Of course, Samanta will need a new song for 2021, and we have no news yet as to whether there will be a selection process to choose the successor to ‘Still Breathing’.

You can listen to Samanta’s song ‘Still Breathing’ here:
