Malta has opened submissions for their Junior Eurovision entry!

Maltese broadcaster PBS has confirmed their participation at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 and started the search for their entry.

Each soloist or group aged between 9 and 14 years which is willing to represent Malta should send their applications until 23rd August. The rules are available here. Submission should include an original song which is not longer than 3 minutes.

On 30th of August they will announce which of applicants has chosen for the final as only twelve acts will be able to perform their song at the show, which won’t be having a live broadcast. During the first and second weeks of September, the jury will be watching the finalists perform. These performances will be filmed and shown on TV and PBS’ social media accounts. Televoting will be opened by mid-September while the winner will be announced at the end of September.

Malta will be participating for 16th time (they skipped the contests in 2011 and 2012) and they have managed to win twice. In 2013, the year of their return Gaia Cauchi with “The Start” marked first Maltese victory while Destiny Chukunyere won with “Not My Soul” in 2015. Each year followed by their victories they were the hosts of Junior Eurovision in Marsa 2014 and Valletta 2016. Last year they ended up on last place for the second time.
