Danish hit singer Ulla Pia passes away
Today is a sad day for the Eurovision world and the Danish people, as another big artist has left the world stage.
Ulla Pia was battling an aggressive form of cancer these past months, which made her pass away last Saturday, in a care home, Gammel Holte, just north of Copenhagen.
Ulla died at the age of 75.
In Denmark, Ulla Pia was known as a real hit machine, especially in the 60’s and 70’s!
It was in the firstnamed decade the Danish became familiar with her when we she had her breakthrough winning Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1966 against huge names like Dario Campeotto and Gustav Winckler!
She represented her home country the same year at the Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg, with ‘Stop mens legen er god’ (Stop – While the Going Is Good), which became prophetic for Denmark at Eurovision: this would be their last entry for a while, until they returned in 1978!

May she rest in peace.
