Ireland withdraws from Junior Eurovision 2020!

After Australia, Wales and North Macedonia have announced their withdrawals from Junior Eurovision 2020 Ireland joins the list as TG4 has confirmed that Ireland will not participate at this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Even though they have initially confirmed their participation and even announced the deadline for selecting their representative, TG4 has decided not to participate due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Irish government publishes a list of countries where Irish citizens are able to travel without the need to quarantine upon their return home (so called Green list) and at the moment Poland is not on the list.

Ireland debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Since their debut the country has participated every year without interruption. Last year Ireland was represented by Anna Kearney who sung “Banshee”, ending on 12th place with 73 points.

The countries which have so far confirmed their participation are: Belarus, KazakhstanPoland, France, Georgia, MaltaThe NetherlandsRussiaSerbiaSpain, Ukraine and Germany who will be making their debut.
