Katrina on James Newman: ‘It’s one of the strongest songs we’ve sent since 1997’

Our editor Matt caught up with Katrina from Katrina and the Waves who’s brand new album ‘Hearts, loves and babys’ is about to be released.

Katrina recently released one of the tracks on the album called ‘I want to love again’ which was sent to the BBC to try and represent the UK at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.

When asked what Katrina thought of the UK song this year Katrina said:

I think it was right on track. It was one of the strongest songs that we’ve entered since 1997… I think he’s a class writer and that’s exactly what we need to be doing and where we should be.

When talking about the UK’s approach to Eurovision Katrina said:

We’re on track. I think what James did is much better.. there’s no reason not to submit something really strong and really commercial.
